Starting treatment: Brad
It is recommended that treatment with HIV medicines (called antiretroviral therapy, or ART for short) should be offered to anyone diagnosed as HIV positive. People living with HIV that take ART and become undetectable, live longer and healthier lives than those who don’t. Taking ART also reduces the risk of HIV transmission.
Hear Brad discuss how early in the 1990s, when he was diagnosed, there were fewer treatment options available. He will talk about the many ups and downs he and the other people living with HIV experienced before successful treatment was developed.
