HIV Diagnosis: Tom’s Journey with HIV
Tom’s journey with HIV started in 2011. At the time of his HIV diagnosis, he thought his life was over. Now, he is living in London with his dog and wonderful fiancé Craig while working as an advocate for people living with HIV. Disappointed by the resources he was given in 2011, Tom decided to educate himself so that he could give others the HIV education they deserved. His story shows how you can grow from the initial dark days of diagnosis and positively thrive with HIV.
The first time Tom shared his status with a trusted friend was a huge weight off of his shoulders and it completely shifted his mentality surrounding HIV. Speaking to others helped him to recognise his own slow-onset side effects and make the change to a better HIV treatment option for him. Tom believes that the medical side of HIV is pretty much sorted, now he wants society to catch up.
